Nearly opaque ruby core with a paler rim. Intense aromas of black cherry, kirsch, incense, and cedar followed up with a touch of underbrush. On the palate fresh herbs, mint, and wood tannins surround a core of beautiful and ripe dark berry. The finish is long and dry, with lingering fruit flavors. Nice now but will be even better with a year or two in bottle.

Vibrant ruby core with a garnet rim. The fresh, red fruit notes and rose petal nuances on the nose are reflected on the palate, with well-integrated oak, butter, and vanilla adding depth and body to the juicy core of primary fruit. The tannins prevalent on the finish, reflect this wine's youth. This is a tremendous value, with the complexity and depth of more expensive Napa bottlings. Give this another 3 years for optimal drinking, or decant before enjoying now with steak.

Another successful Marinus from this small Monterey County appellation. Made from all five classic Bordeaux varieties, it's dry and rich in blackberries, black currants, crème de cassis and cedar, and is more rough in tannins than your typical Napa Cabernet blend. Drink now-2013.
