The slightly richer and more ambitious of the Carmel Road pair, this weighty, well-ripened Chardonnay combines extracted, ripe apple fruit with a full dose of sweet oak and hints at peach and pineapple here and there. A touch uneven insofar as it tightens up at the end after starting out on a rounded, slightly glyceriny note, it has the fruity depth to win endorsement even if it does not fully smooth out over time.
