A beautiful ruby color which fades to a pink at the rim. The wine has an expressive nose of ripe cherries and crushed raspberries backed by darker notes of toasty oak and damp earth reminiscent of Burgundy. On the palate, it shows balance and structure well beyond its price point. The bright fruit does not overwhelm the wine and marries beautifully with the earthy notes. Soft tannins fill the mouth and linger on a long, luscious finish that makes you want to keep sipping. This is another excellent 2007 Pinot from California, and certainly one of the best Pinots you'll come across at this price point.

Floral, anise and crushed berry aromas are intense, supple and balanced, built around raspberry, wild berry and hints of strawberry. Ends with an elegant minerally edge. Drink now through 2013. 5,500 cases made. -JL
