This young, still slightly rigid Cabernet has the makings of a very fine wine, and its keenly knit mix of dark fruit, sweet oak and briar puts it on the track to real success. It is nicely extracted and starts out with a supple note but gets a bit puckery and gives way to acid and drying tannins on the latter palate. It has the look of a wine that will age well, and we are comfortable in predicting that it will smooth out in five or six years.

Incredibly open, the fragrant nose is full of sweet black cherry and cassis along with light floral and earth notes. A touch more earth, as well as minerality and spice, appear on the palate, serving to complement the ample fruit. Full bodied, and framed by balanced acidity and tannins, it will sing with red meat dishes, but I would gladly consume this on its own. With terrific length and a superb finish, this really hits the sweet spot. Everything is in the right place-nothing overwhelming, nothing lacking-to present a complete effort that's priced favorably compared to other producers from this region for this exceptional vintage.
