92 -94 points,

Burghound, June 2009

Tasting note: Moderate oak mingles with an expressive nose that features primarily notes of honeysuckle and fresh white peach aromas that marry into rich, full and very generous, even lush medium weight plus flavors brimming with palate staining dry extract, all wrapped in a dense yet precise and wonderfully long finish. This does not have the raw power and muscle and sheer persistence of the Corton-Charlemagne but this is a relatively powerful Bienvenues all the same.

92 points,

Stephen Tanzer's IWC, September 2009

($240) Bright pale yellow. Captivating aromas of orange, tangerine, apricot and nut oil, complicated by toasty oak and coconut. Silky-sweet and suave, with strong acidity but less obvious energy than the Quintessence. In a refined style but not particularly expressive today, with its fruit still in the deep background.

About Winery

Vincent Girardin was born in Santenay, in the Côte de Beaune and is part of a winemaking family whose origins date to the 17th century (11th generation). Now in his forties, Vincent began in 1982 with only 2 hectares (5 acres) of vines. When his father retired, Vincent took over several additional hectares to which he could devote himself.

Vincent Girardin is a man of conviction. He knows what he wants. He has grasped his profession firmly with both hands. Vincent's roots are deep in the most prestigious terroirs of Burgundy. He knows every vine, every parcel of land. He also ensures that the very highest quality is maintained by following each wine's development every step of the way, at all times respecting the most important element of Burgundy - the individuality of its terroirs.
