The Kesselstatt 2007 Kaseler Niesā_Tchen Riesling Grosses Gewachs is strikingly if austerely marked by impressions of caraway, lemon zest, toasted nuts, and crushed stone. As with the lighter dry bottling from this site, there is a Sauvignon-like aspect to this, but it lacks its little siblingā_Ts brash, treble nature. Here we have an impressive layering of citrus zest, nut oils, and stone, leading to a lingering finish, but the violins and percussion have been left out of the score. I would approach cellaring cautiously but certainly 6-7 years will present no problem.
