"Dark purple color and quite opaque center. The nose is a touch hot at first but there's also some nice spice and deep, dark fruit there. This is a great example of a bigger styled pinot and would be the perfect accompaniment to deeper cuts of meat."

"Shimmering rose hue. Pretty nose of boysenberry, dark chocolate and light floral aromas...flavors of cherry and berry bolstered by leather and balancing, crisp acidity. Lush cherry pie and bacon fat notes resonate on the tobacco-edged finish."

"This distinctive Pinot Noir's source is a tiny vineyard in cool Green Valley; the winegrower is James MacPhail, whose own MacPhail Pinot Noirs are so good. The wine itself is totally dry and silky and firm in acidity, yet soft in fine tannins. You might call it noble. It's eruptive in cherries, sweet smoky bacon, raspberry granola and oaky sandalwood. Gorgeous, seductive and brilliant, a truly great Pinot Noir that's impeccable now. - S.H. (10/1/2009) - 97"

"Big and full-bodied, with a concentrated mix of savory herb, cherry, berry, mineral and pebble, ending with a complex berry earthiness. Drink now through 2014. 1,196 cases made. -JL"
