About Winery

Pioneer Silesian settler Johann Friedrich August Fiedler planted the first Shiraz vines in 1847. It is the intense, concentrated fruit from these ancient vines that set Turkey Flat wines apart and have made them sought after the world over.

Turkey Flat owns five vineyards spread over a radius of 20km from Bethany in the south, Ebenezer in the north, Stonewell in the west, with other vineyards in the east. They cover four very different sub-regions and give us the ability to blend the attributes of each subregion into our wines.

"To a large degree our winemaking begins in the vineyard. We spend a great deal of time managing vine vigour, controlling shoot growth as well as shoot and bunch thinning. This helps to reduce yields and open up the vines to let in the sunlight. We are also spending a lot more time trying to understand when the grapes are mature"
