Soft ruby core with a russet rim. The nose offers fresh flower, cranberry, and cherry aromas along with spice, tobacco, and charred earth scents. Medium-bodied on the palate, this has great depth, wonderful red fruit, lingering spice flavors, and supple tannins. This silky and expressive Barolo can be enjoyed now, but would benefit from another year or two in bottle. Drink this over the next 15+ years.

One of the best Italian Reds of the year and amongst the most virtuous Barolo of all times. A great wine with its spices, and focused, ripe purple fruit. A mellow expression of unwithered intensity. Limpid clear spices reflect the bright and radiant oak which give way to an effusion of wild vanilla. Not only is there exceptionally new fruit at it's core but more so that of concentration and total softness. A harmonious marriage of a wine with sensational aromatic stance on the palate and gratifying fragrances. A concentrated and pure black cherry of excellent integrity. http://www.lucamaroni.com/4DCGI/Rec03_249154

The 2007 Barolo Parej emerges from the glass with spices, freshly cut flowers, licorice and sweet red cherries. It is a relatively mid-weight wine for the year, but the bright red fruit nevertheless shows considerable depth. Sweet floral notes wrap around the finish. The Parej is a supple, fruit-driven Barolo but I find myself drawn in by the wine-s exuberant, sexy personality. Silky tannins frame the long finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.

Laced with plum, mint, tobacco and vanilla flavors, with a hint of chocolate, this generous, fruit-driven Barolo is open and inviting. The tannins circle the fruit on the finish, playing out with a long, spice-tinged aftertaste. Best from 2014 through 2025. 875 cases made. –BS
