Dark ruby core to a wide pink rim. A fresh nose features black cherry, raspberry gelée, rhubarb and mineral at the core, with a nice layer of juicy orange marmalade on top, and an alluring, penetrating depth to it that adds herbs, cinnamon and clove. This big, bold style of pinot offers a good amount of Anderson Valley complexity and a long, cooling finish sporting a hint of menthol. Tannins turn nice and silky at the end. Very tasty. Drink 2012-2018.

The vineyard is about 1,000 feet above Boonville. The wine is impeccable. Crisp in acidity, with a silky, elegant texture, it shows complex flavors of cherries, raspberries, cola, orange zest, Asian spices and earthy rhubarb. It's dry, but with a rich, fruity-oaky sweetness. Delicious and compelling, it should develop over the next 6-8 years. - S.H.
