This elegant Kiwi Bordeaux blend shows an opaque ruby-purple color. The nose displays a focused bouquet of blackberry, black cherry, plum and coffee with floral notes and hints of wood spice. A full bodied and textured palate balances rich dark fruit and dark chocolate flavors with a bright backbone of acidity framed in a structure of velvety tannin that carries through for a long and elegant finish.

Very dark, opaque color. Leads off with beguiling aromas of milk chocolate along with blackberry liqueur. After some aeration, notes of caraway and pepper appear. Fruit driven, full and round at first, the finish has just the right texture and acidity to give this tasty wine a fresh ending.

The 2007 Te Kahu Proprietary Red, a Bordeaux blend matured in new French barriques, has a deep dark chocolate-scented nose with dark cherry, Doris plum, cedar and a touch of freshly rolled tobacco. Good definition. The palate is full-bodied with firm tannins, great depth, a little furry at the moment with mouth-coating black fruits. Smooth and focused, primal and sensuous on the finish with a slight bitter cherry edge. Broody but it draws you in.
