92 points,

Burghound, January 2010

Here the nose is cool to the point of being restrained yet it is also ripe with liqueur-like aromas of red cherry and raspberry cut with a slight herbal component that introduces linear, detailed and mineral suffused broad-shouldered flavors that possess ample vibrancy on the palate staining finish where the underlying acidity throws the delineation into high relief. A focused medium weight Chambertin that is focused if somewhat less powerful than usual.

92 points,

Stephen Tanzer's IWC, April 2010

($180) Medium red. Complex nose melds red fruits, minerals, rose petal and game. Then dense and sweet in the mouth, combining an almost liqueur-like quality with lovely lift. A firm spine of acidity gives definition to the flavors of red cherry, flowers and minerals. An attractive, juicy midweight that finishes with dusty tannins and subtle length and needs a good five years of cellaring.

About Winery

Archives show that the Rossignol family has had vineyards in Volnay since the 16th Century and the Trapet have owned vineyards in Gevrey Chambertin from the 18th century. This accrued knowledge of their vineyards has been handed down from one generation to the next.

Le Domaine Rossignol Trapet today is the result of the marriage of Jacques Rossignol to Mado Trapet.

Nicolas and David Rossignol, their two sons, have been running the Domaine based in Gevrey- Chambertin since 1990. The Domaine owns vineyards not only in Gevrey chambertin but also in the prestigious villages of Beaune and Savigny-Les-Beaune.

Although today Nicolas and David are very aware of the traditions, they are not afraid to incorporate technological and biological advances into their work in the vineyards to enhance the condition and quality of the harvest.
