90 points,

Burghound, April 2009

Less obvious if still noticeable reduction knocks down the expressiveness of the earthy and somewhat animale infused nose that merges into rich, full, intense and solidly powerful flavors that also possess good volume and a palate staining finish. I like the texture and sap and this could be better than my score suggests as the reduction makes this difficult to accurately read.

89 points,

Stephen Tanzer's IWC, April 2010

Good dark red. Sauvage aromas of black raspberry, smoke and game. Wild, ripe and open-knit, with considerable fat and sweetness to the flavors of dark raspberry, smoke and game. Sweet tannins will not get in the way of enjoying this wine now.

About Winery

Vincent Girardin was born in Santenay, in the Côte de Beaune and is part of a winemaking family whose origins date to the 17th century (11th generation). Now in his forties, Vincent began in 1982 with only 2 hectares (5 acres) of vines. When his father retired, Vincent took over several additional hectares to which he could devote himself.

Vincent Girardin is a man of conviction. He knows what he wants. He has grasped his profession firmly with both hands. Vincent's roots are deep in the most prestigious terroirs of Burgundy. He knows every vine, every parcel of land. He also ensures that the very highest quality is maintained by following each wine's development every step of the way, at all times respecting the most important element of Burgundy - the individuality of its terroirs.
