Dark red, almost black, with a ruby red rim. Has a classic Oakville nose of spice, cassis, chocolate, cedar, and bright, snappy cranberry with a big, dense soft red fruit core. Subtle oak, a hint of eucalyptus, and fine integrated tannins push this through the palate to the finish.

About Winery

In 1981, Dennis and Judy Groth purchased a 121 acre vineyard planted to Cabernet Sauvignon by Justin Meyer and Ray Duncan from 1972-1974, in the heart of the Oakville appellation. It was prime Cabernet Sauvignon land, planted by masters. Some of the grapes found their way to Justin's Silver Oak bottlings and to other successful Napa Valley bottlings.The Groth wines have also been successful, as Robert Parker gave the 1985 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon the distinction of being California's first 100 point wine.
