An extraordinary Cabernet that stands out even in this great vintage, and among its Rutherford peers. Quite dry and tannic in youth, it shows an astringency that strongly suggests the cellar. Underneath are powerhouse flavors of blackberries, black and red cherries, spices, tea and cedar. Really defines balance and elegance in a Napa Cabernet. Decant if you drink it now, but it should develop for years to come. S.H.

About Winery

Carved from a second growth forest at about 1,100 feet elevation, the southwest facing vineyards in the Mayacamas mountains provide a distinctive "terroir."

Under the guiding hand of Napa Valley vineyard management legend, Laurie Wood, vineyard development began in 1990. The vineyards have been managed by Frank Leeds, a true pioneer in organic farming in the Napa Valley, since 1998. All vineyards are farmed using organic practices certified by California Certified Organic Farmers.
