2007 Mer Soleil Silver Chardonnay Unoaked
Chardonnay: 750ml
$24.99
about this wine:
Chardonnay is sometimes called the "winemaker's wine" because it can be made in a range of styles from crisp and steely to big and buttery, depending on choices made in both the vineyard and the cellar.
Silver is an example of the pure varietal flavors of Chardonnay grown in certain blocks of our Mer Soleil Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands of Monterey County and harvested at first ripening. The wine expresses natural characteristics derived from the minerals in the soil and tropical elements from the terroir of the Pacific coastline.

Soft gold in the glass, the nose is bright and rich with orchard fruits, summer honey, wildflowers and cranberry. Up front, the palate is ripe with peach, Bartlett pear, apple and sweet lemon but the mid-palate shows a refreshing herbal lift of fresh tarragon. Full bodied the finish is dry, with lingering notes of tea and dried flowers.

Combines ripe, intense peach, nectarine and tangerine fruit, with touches of floral and spice. Gains body and depth, turning creamy in texture. Drink now through 2012.
