Devon Magee, JJ Buckley, August 2011

Spicy, brambly fruit dominates the nose and continues onto the palate, along with hints of nutmeg and bouquet garni. The experience is transportive-evoking a summer scene in Southern France. The beautiful precision of the vintage comes through in the bright red and black fruit flavors balanced by the cooling sensation of the wine's acid and layered depth. Delicious right now, this will even benefit with age. An absolutely stunning effort, especially when you consider the price.

A smoking blend of roughly 65% Grenache, 25% Syrah, and 10% Carignan that just screams southern France, the 2007 Domaine de Mourchon Côtes du Rhône Villages Séguret Tradition, aged all in unlined concrete casks, has beautifully perfumed aromatics of spiced blackberry and cherry pit that are intermixed with notions of saddle leather, lavender, mineral, and garrigue on the nose. This is followed by a medium+ bodied wine that has loads of pure, fresh fruit, a focused, energetic texture, and chewy, broad finish that doesn't lack for length. I love the typicity and this outstanding value should be purchased by the case and consumed over the coming 4-6 years or so.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, October 2009

The 2007 Seguret Tradition has a glorious nose of garrigue, pepper, lavender, and spices. Its dense purple, concentrated color is followed by medium body, admirable elegance and purity, and a round, generous, even opulent finish. This is a beauty to drink over the next 3-4 years.

This excellent estate, which was purchased in 1998 by the McKinlay family and encompasses over 60 acres of relatively old vines, has proven over a short period of time to be one of the stars among all the Cotes du Rhone-Villages estates.
