"La Negly's entry-level red 2007 Coteaux du Languedoc La Clape La Cote represents a blend of Grenache, Carignan, and 20% Syrah, some lots vinified by carbonic maceration, and raised in a mixture of tank, oaken ovals, and (for the Syrah) barrique. . . deep mulberry and blackberry fruit, along with deep nut oil richness and a slightly reductive note of cassis leaf that segues into scrubby herbal pungency and partly blows off with some air. This is if anything denser and riper than the 2006, yet possesses an unquenchable sap and vividly fresh fruit juiciness. . ." 88+ points, David Schildknecht, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate

"Jean Paux-Rosset and his oenologist (since 1996) Claude Gros are
passionate about the unique former island that is La Clape, and about
pursuing uncompromising control of yields, meticulous selectivity of
fruit, innovative (at times -back-to-the-future-) equipment, and
relentless pushing of the envelope when it comes to ripening their
fruit, extracting its flavors, raising it in barrel, and bottling with
minimal sacrifice of quality potential. As a result, La Clape has become
something of a proving ground for Bordeaux-based consultant Gros, with
methods and standards that were first introduced at Chateau de la Negly
spreading not just to other Languedoc estates, but to the rest of
