The color is ruby/garnet to the rim with a purple core. The nose is very perfumed with classic brambly spiced cherry and plum fruit with an underlying mineral component from the decomposed granite schist soil. Nuances of sandalwood, dusty rose petal are subtle complexities that just do not present themselves too often in a Zinfandel. The palate is concentrated with ripe cherry, plum, and black raspberry. Meticulously balanced.
Sobon Estate Zinfandel comes from a treasured 'Heritage Vineyard' that is 100 years old, perched at the highest elevation in the Fiddletown AVA at 1900 feet. This low yielding bio-dynamic vineyard produces barely 2 tons of grapes per acre where the vines dig deeply and struggle to bring out the underlying mineral rocky and spiced terroir.

A thoroughly enjoyable Zinfandel that shows the variety's lusty character, but with special grace and finesse. Bone dry and richly tannic, it has complex flavors of blackberries, blueberries and currants, with earthier notes of tobacco, leather and unsweetened dark choclate. Very fine.
