Tasting note: Heavy reduction renders the nose impossible to read and while the rich, intense and detailed flavors appear to have plenty of underlying material and energy, the overall impression is that the wine is still quite tight and extremely primary as well as much less evolved than any of the prior wines. This is frankly difficult to say too much about other than it appears very promising.

($365; not racked) Palish, green-tinged yellow. Steely aromas of white grapefruit, Granny Smith apple and ginger. Suave and supple on entry, then juicy and vibrant in the middle, conveying an impression of weightlessness. Best today on the explosive mounting finish, which boasts superb subtle complexity. The finest and longest of these wines. The crop level here was just 25 hectoliters per hectare in 2007, according to Girardin.
