50% cabernet sauvignon, 50% merlot. Aged for 16-18 months in new French oak. Located in Léognan on the slope of a gravelly hill between Haut-Bailly and Malartic Lagravière, Chateau Branon is a tiny winery producing only around 6000 bottles. Rich in red fruit, this is already starting to show some bottle age with a hint of wet earth and mushroom. It also has rich, dark red cherry flavors with great balance and fresh structure. This one screams out "Bordeaux!" in a good way.

A sleeper of the vintage, the dense ruby/purple-tinged 2008 Branon displays chocolatey, earthy undertones intermixed with black currants and Asian plum sauce. Medium to full-bodied, rich, impressively endowed, supple and evolved, it can be drunk over the next 10-12 years.
