($19) Pale gold. Suave citrus and floral scents are complicated by dusty mineral and spice qualities, with a note of pear adding depth. Juicy, finely etched Meyer lemon and orange pith flavors expand in the middle palate to offer sweeter pear and peach qualities. Avoids the grassiness and herbacity of most New World sauvignon; the finish is tangy, energetic and very persistent.

About Winery

Doug Margerum and his family opened Wine Cask wine store and restaurant in 1981. Wine Cask quickly became a destination of choice in Santa Barbara among food and wine cognoscenti.

In 2001 Doug started Margerum Wine Company producing small lots of Santa Barbara County Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Gris. After selling the Wine Cask in June of 2007 he now devotes all of his energies to the production and promotion of Margerum wines.
