The 2008 Pinot Noir The North Slope comes from tiny yields of 1.5 to 2 tons of fruit per acre. Aromas of apple skins, rose petals, wild strawberries, black cherries, and orange rind are accompanied by a wine with crisp acids, abundant fruit, medium to full body, and an elegant, pure style. Enjoy it over the next 7-8 years.

Bright red. The nose slowly opens to reveal red and dark berries, cherry and smoky herbs, with hints of black cardamom and singed plum adding complexity. Potent dark berry and bitter cherry flavors are given spine by slow-mounting acidity, with the smoky note repeating. Becomes more floral with air and leaves notes of rose and violet pastille behind on the smoky, sneakily sweet, persistent finish. This one needs some air or bottle age. -Josh Raynolds
