Not unlike Alysian's Floodgate effort from the West Block, especially in its focused, rich aromas and its drift into firming acidity on the palate, this wine takes that acidity a step or two further and winds up with a tart edge for its sins. It is deep enough at its heart to warrant a half dozen years of aging, yet asks for a higher level of faith than its vineyard-sourced mate reviewed above.

Vivid red. Sexy aromas of cherry-cola, black raspberry and rose, with a smoky overtone. Sappy, focused and spicy on the palate, offering energetic, deep red and dark berry flavors. The smooth, spicy finish lingers with very good intensity and a suave dark berry preserve note. (JR)

This wine's generous texture has a chocolate richness, cut by tart plum skin flavors. A full-bodied pinot, this is built for filet mignon.

This Pinot has an admirable delicacy, with fairly low alcohol and crisp acids keeping it silky, brisk and elegant in the mouth. The all-important flavors suggest raspberries and cola, with a long, spicy finish. It's a little simple now, but could gain traction after some time in the bottle.
