2009 Bouchard Pere et Fils Meursault Perrieres Premier Cru Chardonnay
Chardonnay: 750ml
$59.99
about this wine:
It is the stony ground to which the vine clings that has given rise to the name of this exceptional "climat ": " Perrières ". This Premier Cru has been renowned for its finesse and pureness for many years: in the mid 19th century, the wine maker, M. de Vergnette stated in one of his works that "Apart from the true Montrachets, I know of no other white wine so exquisite". Later, Dr. Lavalle mentioned it as "Tête de cuvée" in his 1855 rating.

Good pale color. Pineapple, lemon and stone on the nose, lifted by a floral topnote. Explosive and expressive in the mouth, with terrific sweetness and density to its citrus and stone flavors. Quite suave and refined. This has near-grand cru breadth and weight. A parcel of vines near Puligny-Montrachet Chalumeaux contributes an exotic note and a stony element, notes winemaker Prost. Impressive. (Incidentally, there's no more Folatieres or Pucelles under the Bouchard label, as the Chavy family is now keeping all of this fruit.)
