about this wine:

2009 is our inaugural release from our first "ground to glass" undertaking. Planted by our crew on land leased from the Davidson family, this chardonnay block is comprised of five selections (4, 76, Hyde, Mount Eden and Wente) on a gentle west-facing slope in sandy loam soil.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, August 2011

The 2009 Chardonnay 3-D is quite fresh and vibrant. Lime, lemon, minerals and saline notes emerge from this energetic Chardonnay. The wine's vibrancy follows through nicely to the focused finish. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2019.

No one has done more to carry the banner for the Santa Rita Hills than Greg Brewer and Steve Clifton. Both together at Brewer-Clifton and separately in their other projects, Brewer and Clifton consistently deliver delicious wines that are also deeply thought provoking with regards to the potential these vineyard sites hold. The Pinots in particular are compelling. The 2009 Pinots saw a seven day cold soak and fermentations that lasted a total of 35-40 days, with 100% stems. -AG

Stephen Tanzer's IWC, December 2010

Vivid gold. Complex, ripe aromas of citrus fruits, minerals and white flowers, with a hint of honey. Broad, fat and rather powerful in the mouth, with energetic citrus and pear flavors supported by powerful underlying minerality. The chewy, mouth-coating finish is fresh and impressively persistent. -Josh Raynolds
