Mild reduction cannot completely hide the floral and lemon peel nuances, the latter of which can also be found on the citrusy middle weight flavors that possess the fine detail and more obvious acid support on the mineral-driven finish. This is a lovely combination of power and finesse. Worth considering.

About Winery

"The heirs of Comte Lafon" was born from Dominique Lafon's desire for new challenges as well as his conviction that the Maconnaise region remains one of France's great untapped sources for world-class Chardonnay. Similarly as this great wine-maker raises his renowned White Burgundies from the Cote D'Or, the selections from Heritiers du Comte Lafon are biodynamically farmed and bottled without filtration. Singular in their expressions of terroir, these majestic expressions from the Macon are worth the search.

"One of the reference points for White Burgundy, Domaine des Comtes Lafon is run by Dominique Lafon and his brother, Bruno. Dominique is both a sophisticated, globe-trotting ambassador for Burgundy and a brilliant vineyard specialist and winemaker. Some of the finest, most elegant and ageworthy white Burgundies emerge from this 34-acre estate, graced with a handsome chateau-like building. Comtes Lafon's cellars are among the deepest and coldest in Burgundy, and for that reason, the upbringing of the wines has always been prolonged. The wines typically age on their lees undisturbed for nearly two years so that they can be bottled without filtration....

Dominique Lafon, who took over from his father in 1987, practices traditional winemaking, but he keeps an open mind about ways he can continue to improve some of the world's most extraordinary wines. However, he believes the most important part of the winemaking philosophy he has inherited from generations of Lafons is "the courage to do nothing".
