An obviously ripe yet clearly Chablis nose of citrus, orchard fruit, seaweed and saline hints where the latter two elements carry over to the big, rich and impressively scaled flavors that possess ample amounts of dry extract as well as a tangy, sappy, mouth coating and moderately austere finish. This is not an especially elegant wine but rather one of power but with excellent complexity.

Pale, bright straw-yellow. Aromas of pear and hazelnut, plus a whiff of nut skin. Offers good cut and definition to its flavors of menthol, minerals and slightly bitter peach pit. The back end is a tad warm and phenolic, with the peach pit and dusty stone qualities giving the finish a tannic impression. Today the Clos is much sexier; this one needs time to knit. 91(+?)
