This is quite ripe for the appellation though there are no hints of surmaturité to the aromas of apricot, white peach, pear and wet stone notes that carry over to the rich if moderately austere flavors, all wrapped in a complex, long and impressively persistent finish. I very much like the overall sense of balance and harmony here. Outstanding.

The 2009 Puligny-Montrachet Folatieres shows off succulent apricots, peaches and flowers in a fairly rich, unctuous style. Layers of expressive, sweet perfume add dimension and depth through to the opulent, generous finish. This is another of the more overt, flashy wines in the lineup. Anticipated maturity: 2013+.

Bright pale color. Brilliantly pure aromas of lemon oil and white flowers. Rich and silky, with outstanding complexity--and a slight viognier-like quality--to its flavors of pineapple, apricot, melon, lichee and salty oyster shell. This has more body than most Puligny examples from this vintage, but the youthfully bitter-edged finish delivers strong soil tones. Mounir Saouma believes that Puligny-Montrachet was the favored white wine appellation in 2009.

Though deeply colored, this white remains fresh, exhibiting peach, apricot, toast and smoke aromas and flavors. Builds in intensity, lingering with a spicy edge. Drink now through 2018. -BS
