A gentle touch of wood frames ripe and earthy aromas of mostly red berry fruit that are slightly fresher. There is an appealing touch of minerality to the rich, supple and detailed middle weight flavors that possess good detail on the complex and only mildly rustic finish that evidences a slight touch of youthful austerity on the solidly persistent finish. This will clearly age but there is so much mid-palate fat that it could be drunk now. That said, I would definitely opt to cellar this for 6 to 8 years first. Outstanding.

The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin opens with a gorgeous, expressive bouquet. The wine boasts terrific purity and delineation in its fruit along with an exceptionally long, refined finish. This is a beautiful wine in its peer group. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020.

Moderately saturated medium red. Ripe red berries and mocha on the lively nose and palate. Fat, supple and sweet, with enough sex appeal to give pleasure right now. Plump in the middle but neither fat nor flat. Finishes with dusty tannins, firm structure and sneaky length.
