An expressive nose of green fruit and earth is tinged with an herbal note that precedes rich, powerful, concentrated and quite generous flavors that possess plenty of dry extract on the mouth coating and impressively long finish. This is a classic Poruzots that is long on drive and complexity but with limited finesse and refinement. - Comments: Outstanding ♥

The 2009 Meursault Les Poruzots shows lovely clarity and nuance, even if at times it is rather brooding. Yellow stone fruit, minerals and herbs are some of the nuances that wrap around the intense finish. Anticipated maturity: 2013+. -Antonio Galloni

Pale bright yellow. Lemon and spicy oak on the nose. Sweet and fresh, with good acid spine to the pure floral and lemon flavors. Boasts good tension and sap for Poruzots. Finishes juicy, gripping and long, with a chewy, saline quality.

"After making wine at his family's property
(Domaine Jean Boillot) for more than a decade [Henri Boillot] quit in 1984 to launch his own negociant business.

After sufficiently impressing his grandfather, Jean Boillot, with the quality of his wines Henri rejoined the estate and eventually bought out his brothers and sisters in 2005. He immediately changed the name of the winery from Domaine Jean Boillot to Domaine Henri Boillot to avoid confusion with his brother's property, Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot. In case you're not sufficiently confused, Henri also continued to market his negociant wines under the Maison Henri Boillot label.

The quality? Well, across the board Boillot's bottlings are pure, rich, accurate, powerful and brilliant. As The Wine Advocate neatly stated, "As a group these wines showed vibrancy, excellent acidity, genuine vineyard character, and they tasted damn good too! Differences between Meursaults from Charmes and Genevrieres were obvious. It was much the same for the Pulignys and the Grand Crus.
