2009 Bouchard Pere et Fils Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay
Chardonnay: 750ml
$184.99
about this wine:
According to the legend, the Lord of Montrachet shared his land out between his two sons. One had become a Chevalier during the crusades and the other, illegitimate, is supposed to have given his name to Bātard- Montrachet. Chevalier- Montrachet forms a horizontal strip at the top of the upper part of Montrachet and is made up of four terraces with different subsoils, giving four different facets to this exceptional Grand Cru. During the 19th century, we acquired several vineyards and have now become the main owner and the only producer with vineyards on all four terraces.

Knockout nose combines crushed stone, lavender, violet and sea salt; this smells brisk! Wonderfully suave and silky on the palate, with terrific concentration to its crushed stone and floral flavors. Really an enormous wine but with no impression of heaviness. Finishes with outstanding rising length and seductive sweetness. Bouchard owns vines on "every level" of Chevalier-Montrachet, notes Prost, "so a blend really means something, since we have everything from an exotic piece to one that's high in acid."
