The 2009 Classique has a dense ruby/purple color, plenty of fresh, lively black fruits, medium to full body, well-etched flavors, but a supple, broad texture and outstanding purity. The final blend of this wine, 70% Merlot, 20% Malbec, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Malbec, tips the scales at 15% alcohol. Tasted once.
These are all exclusivities of American-born negociant Jeffrey M. Davies, who has carved out quite a niche for himself working with small properties, raising their levels of performance, and offering consumers an outstanding portfolio of reasonably priced wines. These are among three of the most potent and powerful wines I tasted in Bordeaux, two of them certainly outstanding.

Black licorice and mineral on the nose. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a fruity finish. Balanced and silky. But turns just a tad chewy.
