Medium pale ruby with a hint of purple near the rim. High toned and very focused, the fragrant nose showcases black cherry, rhubarb, minerality and a hint of spice and woodsmoke. This is a very well made pinot with loads of fruit on the palate. A full throttle, mouth-filling wine that will drink well in its youth. Enjoy this one now through 2016.

Bright ruby. Musky, floral-accented aromas of dried red berries and cherry, with wild herb and mocha nuances and a hint of star anise. Juicy, precise, deeply pitched cherry and redcurrant flavors pick up a darker character with air and show a smooth, velvety texture. Fine-grained tannins add shape and grip to the finish, which hangs on with excellent tenacity. This is a very good cellar candidate.

About Winery

This winery was a discovery several years ago, and since then has been purchased by Napa's Cliff Lede. In fact, much of the winemaking has been moved to the impressive facility of Cliff Lede Vineyards on the Yountville Crossroads. The founding winemaker, Ryan Hodgins, was hired full-time, so I don't think there's any real change in style. In fact, given Cliff Lede's resources and commitment to world-class quality, I would suspect quality will likely increase. The following wines are singular in that I don't think anyone is doing what Breggo has managed to achieve with varietals such as Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, and Riesling in Northern California.
