55% cabernet sauvignon, 22% merlot, 15% cabernet franc, 8% petit Verdot in the vineyard. Super dark purple core with a medium violet rim. This is truly classic "Bordeaux" on the nose with aromas of red currant, cassis, and blackberry. Less ripe and not as modern in style than many of the other Margaux wines being presented, the power of the vintage still shows through. It will be less approachable in its youth but I would not hesitate to age this wine for 10-20 years.

A seductive, opulent, textured Margaux with notes of licorice, black fruits, asphalt, pen ink and truffle, this is one of the finest du Tertres ever made. It has a hedonistic quality to it, but at the same time, there is great class, precision and freshness to this full-bodied, concentrated, but very supple-textured wine. Drink it over the next 20+ years.

Bright ruby-red. Cassis, red plum, tobacco leaf, minerals and spices on the nose, lifted by a floral topnote. Silky, suave and elegantly styled; not a particularly opulent wine but nicely polished and balanced, and already offering a lovely perfumed character. Finishes firmly tannic, spicy and long, with harmonious acidity contributing to the impression of class. A terrific vintage for this property.

A wine that continues the impressive rise of du Tertre. It is becoming one of the sure values of Margaux, and this 2009 is both ripe and finely balanced. The acidity boosts the rich fruits, sweet tannins and the warm finish. R.V.

Quite perfumy at first, with lilac, damson plum and singed bay leaf notes up front, followed by darker yet still caressing steeped black cherry, worn leather and espresso notes on the back end. Best from 2013 through 2023. -JM
