Jancis Robinson, May 2011

Looks quite evolved with its pale ruby. Serious stuff - fully ripe Sangiovese but with restraint and no winemaking tricks. Coffee powder? In a pure way. Very healthy wine. Vibrates on the palate. GV

Neil Mechanic, JJ Buckley, August 2011

An aromatic nose offers up rose petals and candied red fruit. Wild strawberry and rhubarb compote on entry, complemented by exotic spice route flavors of cardamom and Chinese five spice. Balancing acidity provides liveliness leading to a subtle, lingering finish. An excellent foil for a grilled veal chop, pork tenderloin or roasted chicken. Superb Montalcino value.

90 points,

Wine Spectator, October 2011

Rich and round, sporting cherry, raspberry, floral and mineral aromas and flavors, this balanced red displays a lively structure, with a subtle aftertaste of fruit and mineral. Best from 2012 through 2020. 900 cases made. -BS

About Winery

The Fuligni Estate spreads over approximately one hundred fully-cultivated hectares of land in an almost continual strip on the eastern side of Montalcino where, historically, the most authentic production of Brunello emerged. The vines, which extend over ten hectares, are primarily located at Cottimelli at altitudes varying from 380 to 450 meters above sea level. Here, the land, which predominantly faces east, belongs entirely to the Santa Fiora (marl) geological formation of Eocene origin and is made up of a prevalently rocky terrain.
