Nearly opaque at the core with a deep purple rim. Sweet purple fruits of blackberry and plum intermingle on the nose along with notes of bittersweet chocolate, forest floor, pencil lead, and just the slightest hint of oak. On entry, dark fruit leads, while soft tannins spread across the palate and provide beautiful structure and length. Well balanced, this second wine from Vieux Chateau Certan is a prime example of the quality of seconds from the 2009 vintage. Decant before drinking now, or let this evolve for another 4-6 years.
