A floral and lightly spiced nose with an abundance of earth and very ripe dark berry fruit aromas introduces mocha-infused medium weight plus flavors that are rich, generous and impressively concentrated. There is a palate staining and lingering finish with good power and length and white this is notably ripe, it stops short of falling over into surmaturité.

The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes comes across a soft, delicate and ready to go. Sweet floral notes add lift as the wine fleshes out nicely on the finish. The Vieilles Vignes shows plenty of 2009 character its round, inviting personality. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. -- Antonio Galloni

Good deep, fresh red. Lively aromas of black cherry, licorice and menthol. Silky-sweet on the palate, with solid minerality enlivening the black raspberry and licorice flavors. Densely packed wine with lovely emerging perfume of lavender, spices and white pepper. Finishes with ripe tannins. The crop level was a very-low-for-the-vintage 35 hectoliters per hectare due to the high percentage of tiny berries, noted Mortet. A superb showing today for this village offering.

This plush red is infused with plum, blackberry, smoke and spice flavors, well-constituted with acidity and tannins. This tightens up on the finish, as plum and spice notes return on the tobacco-tinged aftertaste. Best from 2014 through 2026. -BS
