This is also quite floral with an attractive if subtle hint of spice to the elegant, pure and refined red berry aromas tinged with a hint of forest floor. The seductively textured and intense mineral-inflected flavors possess really lovely intensity on the linear and persistent finish that evidences a hint of wood. This is a distinctive and stylish wine of finesse that is worth a look.

The 2009 Chambolle Musigny La Combe d'Orveaux comes across as a bit wild today. Dark red berries, smoke and wild herbs are some of the many nuances that emerge from the glass. There is good depth to the fruit and plenty of supporting structure. Today the wine is a bit disjointed, but it should settle down in another year or two. This was more impressive when I last tasted it, about six months prior. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. 90+ -Antonio Galloni

A reduced smoky aroma needs air to dissipate, while underneath are pure black cherry, blackberry, violet, spice and iron flavors. Well-toned and athletic, with a graceful finish. Best from 2015 through 2030. -BS
