90 points,

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, December 2010

Selbach's 2009 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spatlese trocken (which happens to be A.P. #4, and in the German market carries the superfluous nickname "Fass 4") offers a demonstration - Martin Kerpen has over the years supplied many - that its famous site is wonderfully suitable to entirely dry wine. Apple, winter pear, and sappy pineapple underlain by nut oils and wreathed in apple blossom and heliotrope inform a texturally glossy, richly-endowed, yet buoyant and refreshing performance. Bitter hints of vanilla bean and apple pip as well as wet stone lend counterpoint to a long finish. Selbach says he expects this to become more mineral in character with a few years bottle age, and I imagine it serving well for 6-8. -David Schildknecht

90 points,

Wine Spectator, December 2010

A crystalline version, displaying dry fresh-cut apple and green pear flavors, with notes of slate and citrus. The fresh finish features white pepper. Drink now through 2020. -KM

About Winery

Sebastian Alois Prüm (1794 - 1871) was the patriarch of the original Prüm estate. Since Mathias Prüm (1835 - 1890) was the only one of his six sons to marry, the estate remained undivided for his generation. In 1911, however, it was finally divided among Mathias four sons and three daughters. Anna Prüm, the youngest of the children, and her husband used their inheritance to start Dr. F. Weins-Prüm estate.
