The 2010 Chardonnay Mt. Harlan shows the pedigree these hillside sites planted in 1984 and 1998 are capable of. This is a beautifully balanced, harmonious wine that captures the exuberant side of Chardonnay in its expressive tropical fruit, buttery notes and spices, while never losing its essential minerality, focus and drive. The 2010 shows fabulous freshness all the way through to the finish. I loved it. This is yet another great showing from Calera. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. 93+ -AG

Subtle oak notes along with vanilla, honeysuckle and orange blossom on the nose complement sweet citrus and tropical fruit on the medium-bodied palate, with hints of toasted brioche and tingling acidity adding complexity and texture. While ready to drink now, this layered, balanced wine will round out further with another couple of years in the cellar.

Vivid yellow-gold. Musky aromas of pear skin, fresh pineapple and lees are lifted by a spicy nuance. Dry, juicy and expansive, with intense flavors of citrus and orchard fruits, anise and iodine. Shows a suave blend of richness and vivacity and finishes smoky, spicy and long. There's something vaguely Meursault-like going on here.
