More backward and tight, the 2010 St.-Joseph Ste.-Epine obviously possesses power, depth, ripeness and richness. At present, it is dominated by its crushed rock and floral notes as well as its tannins, but it is currently reticent and somewhat austere due to its recent bottling. This should turn out to be a blockbuster, but potential purchasers are advised that it will require 3-4 years of bottle age. It should last for two decades. 92+

Dark purple. Heady aromas and flavors of candied dark berries, violet pastille and cola, with a spicy note gaining strength in the glass. Fleshy and expansive, with superb finishing clarity and subtle, fully integrated tannins. Approachable now but there's plenty of depth here to warrant cellaring.
