about this wine:

Merlot flourishes here, rather than the Cabernet, thanks to Soil rich in clay, and Jeremy manipulates the grape in order to deliver wines that are "succulent, never over-extracted, and full of charm and distinction."

A wine with beautiful balance of blackberries, dark chocolate and flowers. Full body, with very refined tannins and a glorious finish. Speechless. Best wine ever from here. Better after 2017.

Dense in color, chocolate covered black fruit, blueberry, plum and truffles make up the perfume. Dense, rich, fat, suave and polished, this rich wine offers length, persistence, balance and purity of flavor.

John Perry, JJ Buckley, April 2011

95% merlot, 5% cabernet franc. Aged in 75% new oak and 25% one-wine-old oak barrels. Average age of vines is 33 years, planted on gravel rich and sandy-gravel soils located between Trotanoy and Latour a Pomerol. Serious vineyard management included de-budding, de-leafing, de-suckering, and crop thinning. Harvest from Sept. 23rd to Oct. 8th. Net yields for 2010 were 33 hls/ha. 14.5% alcohol. Cool blue and black fruit aromas slowly build and rise from the glass along with a lighter floral note. Incredibly silky and smooth on the palate, this is nearly drinkable now! Concentrated and modern, this is a fabulous effort from an estate seriously on the rise. Rich, dark berry fruit fans out in layers on the palate with an enticing spice and anise note on the finish. Delectably sweet and fine tannins are already integrating nicely and this wonderfully balanced and composed Pomerol should be a treat to enjoy for the next 20-30 years. 1,250 cases produced.

Tasted at the Syndicat de Pomerol. The Feytit-Clinet 2010 has a lovely bouquet with raspberry, wild strawberry, cedar and crushed stone all with fine delineation and lift. The palate is full-bodied with ripe, saturated tannins, good acidity cutting through those layers of ripe black fruit but never over-bearing or over-ambitious. It displays impressive persistency on the weighty finish: a long-term Pomerol for one of its most under-rated exponents. Drink 2015-

As I have indicated in previous reports, Feytit-Clinet is a property on the rise. The 2010 comes from a tiny vineyard of about 18+ acres just across the street from Trotanoy and Latour a Pomerol. A blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc reaching 14.5% natural alcohol (a nearly standard level of alcohol in most Pomerols and St.-Emilions in 2010), this wine sports a dense purple color and a sweet nose of mulberries, blueberry liqueur, cassis and licorice as well as hints of mocha and white chocolate. Full-bodied, dense, and rich, with sweet tannin and good acidity giving it a laser-like precision and freshness on the palate, this wine should drink nicely for 15+ years. --Robert Parker
