Andy Frieden, JJ Buckley, February 2013

57% cabernet sauvignon, 34 merlot, 8% cabernet franc, 1% petit verdot. Aged 15 months in second-hand barrels from Lynch-Bages. A dark purple core is opaque with full intensity. The persistent perfume shows deep, brooding blackberry fruit, spring flowers, and acacia blossom, tempered with coffee bean and crushed rock to round out the bouquet. Ripe, juicy black fruitis delicious and plush on the entry. The soft, fleshy mid-palate provides a long, 30 second finish.

Wonderful aromas of currants and blackberries with hints of spices. Full body, with fabulous tannins and a long and creamy texture to the finish. I love the depth of fruit to this. Best ever from here. Great value for the vintage. Try in 2017.

From the seam technical team as Chateau Lynch Bages in Pauillac, blending 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot produced a deeply colored wine with scents of stone, cassis and coffee bean. With round tannins and a soft entry, the wine finishes with sweet cassis and black cherry flavors, supple textures and freshness.

Tasted at Lynch-Bages and the UGC, the vineyard suffered some hail damage and some parcels lost as much as 30-40% of the crop and the yield which is 44hl/ha. The Les Ormes de Pez is a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot raised in 45% new oak. It has a very sensual, very pure bouquet with dark cherries, boysenberry, wild hedgerow, mint and a touch of vanilla, much more feminine than the wines of the past. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins on the entry, very good ripeness here and the Cabernet Sauvignon is really in harmony with the ripe Merlot. Voluminous and silky smooth towards the finish, this is an outstanding Les Ormes de Pez. Drink 2015-

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, May 2011

2010: This dense purple-colored 2010 exhibits dark raspberry and blueberry fruit notes, less power and structure than its neighbor De Pez, but more finesse, elegance and fruit forwardness. This impressively endowed effort should drink nicely for 10-15 years.

Really vibrant, with lovely notes of plum, violet and cherry preserves laced with chalky cut that stretches out the finish. Very, very solid. -J.M.
