A notably ripe nose of essence of cassis, plum and stone leads to round, delicious and concentrated middle weight flavors that possess plenty of mouth coating extract that imparts a velvety texture to the impressively rich and persistent finish. There is a bit more underlying material but it's delivered with the typical refinement of a classic Bressandes. Lovely. - Comments: Sweet spot Outstanding ♥

Within the hamlet of Savigny, there are two superstars - Pavelot routinely the better of the two, depending on lieu dits. For 2009 as well as 2010, this rule continued, unabated. Here the color is an unquestionably garnet gemstone, with crystalline clarity right to the rim. Again we have an aromatic profile of dark pinot fruit, yet this is not quite as extravagant as the preceding, yet perhaps slightly more transparent with a slightly more terroir influenced nuance of soil and mineral. The palate is also more transparent and offers classic Beaune character of underbrush allied to its berry fruits and spice. This is serious juice and offers terrific concentration as well as buckets of terroir notes.

The 2010 Pavelot Bressandes is again, very black fruity in aromatic and flavor profile at the present time (a function of the recent racking?), but deep and complex on the nose, as it offers up scents of cassis, black cherries, woodsmoke, French roast and a touch of new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very closed, with fine mid-palate depth, firm tannins and very good length and grip on the finish. This is not showing a whole lot of style right now, but I assume this is just a result of the recent assemblage.

Good bright medium red. Expressive aromas of cherry, marzipan, menthol, leather, flowers and spices. Supple and pliant on the palate, offering moderate delineation but lovely depth to the red cherry, dark chocolate and spice flavors. A very round style of Beaune, finishing with suave tannins and noteworthy persistence. Very good honest wine; like all these bottlings, it shows little new-oak make-up.
