The fruit is much darker compared to the nose of the Peuillets, with a somber mix of earth and sauvage hints added to the plum and cassis aromas. There is a subtle touch of minerality to the firm, mouth coating and plumy medium-bodied flavors that possess plenty of mouth coating extract before culminating in an energetic, focused and lingering finish. This is perhaps just a hair less elegant then I typically find it though by contrast it is indisputably more powerful.

While the 2010 Serpentières was also still a bit unsettled from its recent racking, it was definitely showing a bit more style on both the nose and palate than the previous few wines. The bouquet is deep and complex, offering up scents of black cherries, dark berries, a touch of venison, espresso and stony minerality. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very primary in profile, with a rock solid core of fruit, tangy acids and very good length and grip on the focused and ripely tannic finish. This will need plenty of time in the cellar, but should prove to be excellent.

Bright ruby-red. Suave nose offers blackberry, crushed stone and bitter chocolate. Dense, pliant and sweet, with a sappy concentration to the black fruit flavors. Finishes with a saline nuance and a lingering flavor of dark chocolate.
