The tentative blend is 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc. 30 year old vineyard in a 5.5 hectare plot. Serious vineyard management includes cover-cropping between every row and hand harvesting. Planted to shallow clay atop limestone, yields were 35 hls/ha. Aged in 50% new oak. 14.5% alcohol. Very fragrant, the nose displays crushed violets and wet stone, leading into red fruit, clean and fresh with good delineation. The palate opens with bright black and blue fruit with plush and rounded texture, closing with long, persistent tannins that are powdery and clean. A very well made wine, this should show very well on release and easily drink over the next 5-9 years. About 2,000 cases produced. Stephane Derenoncourt consults.

This is really gorgeous with lots of rich fruit and super velvety tannins. Long and volumptous. Super for the appellation.

2010: How this producer has been able to retain two of the most famous names in the wine world is a story in itself. However, this blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc hit 14.5% natural alcohol. It is a plump, juicy, savory effort offering aromas of red and black fruits, earth and surprising minerality. Medium to full-bodied, pure and chewy, it is capable of lasting 4-5 years.
