2010 Archery Summit Pinot Noir Premier Cuvee
Pinot Noir: 750ml
$34.99
about this wine:
Archery Summit's search to produce world-class Pinot Noir led them to the Dundee Hills of Oregon. Premier Cuvée, the proprietary blend, is made from both the oldest Pommard vines and Dijon clones 113, 114, 115, 667 and 777. Hillside vineyards, which are planted with up to 4,800 vines per acre, are tended exclusively by a crew of dedicated vineyard workers.

Clear, bright ripe cherry and red raspberry fruit and a polished but firm mouth feel make for a satisfying Archery Summit 2010 Pinot Noir Premier Cuvee (nearly half of which comes from the Arcus vineyard), its notes of sage and ginger running pungently from nose to juicily prolonged, if as yet a bit reductively, tight finish. This should demonstrate at least a half dozen years' stamina, and hopefully gain some richness and nuance in the process. -David Schildknecht

This leads with scents of cedar and smoke, giving way to darker fruit elements-plum, mulberry, black cherry. The flavors are grounded not only by oak but also by a concentrated fruit-skin element that guides the wine and suggests aging potential.

Supple and ripe, light in weight but rich in flavor, with a savory edge to the blackberry and plum fruit. Finishes with intensity and polish. Drink now through 2018. -HS
