Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, August 2012

Initially quite reticent, the 2010 Pinot Noir Ampelos comes across as slightly compact and shut down. There is an element of racy wildness that runs through the fruit in this firm Pinot. It will be interesting to see if the Ampelos softens up with further time in bottle. Today, it is a bit of a brute. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018. - Antonio Galloni

Stephen Tanzer's IWC, November 2012

Bright red. Assertive aromas of raspberry, cherry and fresh rose, with Asian spice and mineral accents building with air. Juicy and precise on the palate, offering sweet red berry flavors and a hint of candied flowers. Shows impressive energy and clarity on the persistent finish, which features a zesty blood orange nuance.

Intense and spicy, with fresh earth, subtle blue and wild berry notes and a touch of cedar. Gripping, stemmy tannins. Best from 2013 through 2021. -JL
