James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, February 2013

Wonderful nose with strawberries, cherry blossom, and vanilla. The red opens up with blueberries, milk chocolate and sweet licorice. Full and juicy on palate with pure dark fruit and velvety tannins. So nicely layered texture and long in the finish with red fruit and crushed chalk. The texture is superb. Drink from 2018.

Canon - From 75% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, (which is the same mix as found in the vineyards,) the wine is deep ruby in color and reached 14.8% alcohol. Yet, there is no sensation of heat. People who prefer tasting by the numbers could have problems with this wine, but I loved it! An intoxicating perfume filled with minerality, licorice, black raspberry jam, hints of oak and chocolate, this is the richest, most concentrated wine produced by the Kolasa team yet. Thick, intense and filled with fresh, perfectly ripe plums, blackberries and licorice, the wine feels great as it falls over your palate and coats your mouth.

Jeff Loo, JJ Buckley, February 2013

75% merlot, 25% cabernet franc. Aged in 55% new oak.Dark purple in color with slight ruby hues towards the rim.A very showy wine, with notes of strawberry, mocha and tar that emerge on the bouquet, followed with damp earth and minerals. This is medium-to-full bodied, with wonderfully refined tannins and great depth. The flavor profile is more together on the palate than the nose at present state, but a few more years will help it along. Give it at least another 5 years, then enjoy the following 2 decades.

Tasted at the Union de Grand Cru in London. The Canon 2010 has a reticent nose despite rigorous coaxing. Yet there is certainly good definition and plenty of sharp red brambly fruits within. The palate is much more expressive. It is supremely well balanced with lovely ripe espresso-tinged black fruit and a compelling sense of harmony and focus. The finish is crisp, beautifully defined with a spicy note lingering on the aftertaste. This has great potential - but it will need time.

An elegant, attractive blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc cropped at 35 hectoliters per hectare, this wine tips the scales at 15% natural alcohol which, given the more elegant style sought at Canon, tells readers a lot about how powerful the 2010 vintage was across all the appellations of Bordeaux. Exhibiting plenty of raspberry, blueberry and black cherry fruit as well as some crushed rock/chalky minerality and a floral note, this very impressive Canon is backward, structured and precise. Give it 7-8 years of bottle age and drink it over the following three decades. 91+

Powerful, complex and ripe, this is a magnificent and concentrated wine. Juicy blackberry fruits, tight acidity and finely integrated tannins give a smooth, rich texture. This beautiful wine has long-term aging potential. -R.V.

Ripe and silky, with a flamboyant edge to the plum sauce, anise-soaked currant fruit and dark blackberry paste flavors. The tannins are dense but velvety, and the finish cascades nicely. A bit of panache here, but this pulls it off. Best from 2015 through 2027. -JM
